Meeting Summary:
The NoCTURN All-Network November 2024 conference convened members from diverse working groups to review progress, share updates, and strategize for the network’s future. Comprehensive reports were presented by committees dedicated to Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, Reuse, Lab Management, Education and Outreach, Basic and Applied Research, Open Science, and NoCTURN Workshops & Presentations.
Potential future initiatives were discussed, including the adoption of Zotero for resource management, the implementation of Python tools to enhance data accessibility, and the further development of educational kits. Participants also explored alternatives to Sketchfab for data visualization and introduced advanced viewers like Drishti and MorphoSource’s new platform.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to transitioning NoCTURN into the ToScA framework. Participants emphasized the importance of standardized data curation practices, semantic metadata for future AI integrations, and securing additional funding to support international collaborations.
