As we bid farewell to 2025, the entire NoCTURN family wants to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who has been a part of our journey this year. It has been a transformative year filled with accomplishment, collaboration, and community spirit, and none of it would have been possible without your support.
✨ Reflecting on 2025 ✨
This year marked significant progress in our mission to develop practical recommendations linking today’s tomography data with tomorrow’s discoveries. We are proud to share several key milestones:
- ToScA Migration Initiated: We took decisive steps toward our transition into ToScA (Tomography for Scientific Advancement), setting the foundation for expanded community engagement, standardized data curation practices, and enhanced international collaborations.
- FAIR Principles in Action: Our Open Science Committee published a landmark paper on FAIR principles in computed tomography in Royal Society Open Science, contributing vital guidance to the broader CT community on making data more Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.
- NSF Project Milestones: At the All-Network meeting last month, we shared that NoCTURN remains on track to complete all project deliverables by the end of our NSF funding period in 2026, demonstrating our commitment to delivering meaningful outcomes for the CT research community.
These achievements reflect the collective expertise and dedication of our network members, and we are grateful for the collaborative spirit that drives NoCTURN forward.
🚀 Looking Ahead to 2026 🚀
As we step into the new year, we are excited about transforming vision into reality. In 2026, we plan to:
- From Conversation to Action: We will begin looking ahead toward how our recommendations and excellent community discussions can be transform into tangible outcomes by developing tools and services that directly address the FAIR needs of the CT community.
- Complete Our NSF Deliverables: We will finalize our funded project objectives, ensuring that the groundwork we’ve laid serves as a robust foundation for future endeavors.
- Sustainable Community: We will continue prioritizing resources and opportunities that empower researchers, educators, and industry partners to implement FAIR principles in their tomography workflows, while fostering a self-sustaining community that thrives well into the future.
We can’t wait to share what’s in store with you, but until then:
🎆 Have a Restful & Joyous New Year! 🎆
May 2026 bring you innovation, discovery, and success in all your endeavors. Thank you for being an essential part of the NoCTURN community. Let’s make the coming year our most impactful one yet!
Stay connected, stay inspired, and Happy New Year!
Warm regards,
The Non-Clinical Tomography Users Research Network
