There are several SlicerMorph and MorphoCloud activities lined up over the coming months:
July 6–10 — 3D Morphometrics and Image Analysis with SlicerMorph (Copenhagen)
- The first European workshop, organized by Dr. Christy Hipsley at the University of Copenhagen. Full details are available in the course catalogue. To apply, send a short motivation email to Dr. Hipsley at christy.hipsley at snm.ku.dk.
Late July / Early August (dates TBD) — MorphoCloud & MorphoDepot in the Classroom (Online, Seattle time)
A two-day online event for course instructors integrating 3D digital morphology and open datasets into their teaching.
- Day 1: Setting up and customizing MorphoCloud infrastructure for your course, managing enrollment, and related logistics.
- Day 2: Using MorphoDepot to assign segmentation tasks, receive student submissions, and provide feedback within the MorphoCloud environment.
- Registration opens mid-June.
September 8–11 — SlicerMorph Hackathon & Project Week (Seattle, WA)
- An intensive, project-driven bootcamp and hackathon focused on advancing the SlicerMorph, MorphoDepot, and MorphoCloud ecosystems. Modeled after the collaborative format of the Slicer Project Weeks, this event deliberately departs from the traditional teaching workshop and emphasizes hands-on, goal-oriented teamwork.
- The event is primarily aimed at biologists working in 3D morphometrics and image analysis who want to actively shape the tools they depend on within the 3D Slicer ecosystem, though software engineers and computer scientists are equally welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring their own research problems and work collaboratively to extend existing functionality, prototype new solutions, and contribute directly to the open-source toolkit. The goal is to bridge biological inquiry with technical innovation and to build more robust, customized tools for contemporary anatomical and morphometric research.
Logistics:
- In-person only.
- $1,000 travel support available for early-career scientists affiliated with US institutions.
- Participants must attend one of two pre-event organizational Zoom sessions to introduce themselves and their proposed project, so that appropriate mentors can be matched.
- Registration opens late May.
Please forward to colleagues, postdocs, and students who may benefit. Questions about specific events can be directed to the contacts listed above or to the SlicerMorph team.
